What Spectators Can Expect at Miss Carlisle Ice Queen
Competition day is one of our favorite days of the year. After weeks of preparation and rehearsals, our contestants finally take the stage in front of their families, friends, and community.
If you are joining us to cheer on a contestant or simply want to experience Miss Carlisle Ice Queen for yourself, we would love to have you in the audience. Here is a look at what you can expect when you arrive.

Before the Evening Showcase
Competition day actually begins well before the audience takes their seats.
Earlier in the day, contestants meet with the judges for their interview portion of the competition. This gives the judges an opportunity to get to know each contestant personally before seeing her on stage later that evening.
By the time spectators arrive, an important part of the judging process is already underway.
The Competition Begins
The evening showcase opens with a choreographed number featuring the contestants. The routine is created around that year's theme and learned during rehearsals leading up to competition day.
The opening number is not scored by the judges. It gives contestants to shine on the stage together and kick off the evening with some energy before the judged portions begin.
From there, spectators will see each age division make its way through the competition.
Meet the Contestants
Each contestant provides a brief introduction that she has prepared and memorized ahead of time.
This is the time for the audience to learn a little about each young woman that is competing. Contestants share information about themselves and what matters to them. This gives the audience and the judges a better sense of who they are.
Hear What They Have to Say
Throughout the evening, contestants will respond to age-appropriate questions that allow them to share their own thoughts and perspectives. Teen Miss and Miss contestants also present a prepared response to a question they received before competition day.
The top finalists in each division will face one additional challenge: the Final Question and Answer.
Finalists do not know this question in advance. Each contestant within the division receives the same question, with the other finalists kept backstage where they cannot hear it. When each young woman steps onto the stage, you are seeing her hear the question and respond in the moment.
Cast Your Vote for Crowd Favorite
This is one of the most beloved traditions at Miss Carlisle Ice Queen. Our Crowd Favorite gives spectators an opportunity to show their support for their favorite candidate while also giving back to the community.
Each contestant selects charities that are meaningful to her before competition day. During the event, spectators can vote for their favorite contestant by placing a donation in her designated jar.
At the end of the evening, the contestant whose jar has raised the most will be named Crowd Favorite. She will receive 50% of the money collected in her jar, and another 50% will be donated to her selected charity.
Funds collected through the remaining contestants’ jars are returned to the Miss Carlisle Ice Queen Association to help support the continued growth of the competition and organization.
So if you are coming to support a contestant, be ready to get involved!
Cheer Them On
Taking the stage takes courage, especially for contestants who may be doing something like this for the very first time.
We encourage our audience to celebrate the young women on stage and help make competition night something they will remember fondly. Your support matters whether you are there for one particular contestant or cheering for the entire group.
For many of these young women, simply stepping onto that stage is an accomplishment worth celebrating. We encourage everyone to cheer loudly for all participants!
Crowning the New Court
At the conclusion of the competition, it is time to welcome the new Miss Carlisle Ice Queen Court.
A Queen and Alternate are crowned in each of our four age divisions: Little Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss, and Miss. Together, these eight young women will represent the Miss Carlisle Ice Queen Association throughout the coming year.
Crowning is an exciting moment for our new titleholders, but it is also the beginning of their commitment to the program. Over the next year, the court will make appearances throughout the community and serve as ambassadors for Miss Carlisle Ice Queen.
